Our Story: Where Family Heritage Meets Healing Hands

How two generations of Thai craftsmanship came together to create something special in New Zealand

At the heart of Nongview Spa is a story that spans two countries, two generations, and two beautiful crafts, but it all comes down to one thing: family.

It Started With Mum's Dream

Our journey began over a decade ago when my mother opened Thong Thai Massage in West Auckland Henderson. With a warm heart, sharp business sense, and an unshakeable belief in the healing power of traditional Thai massage, she built something remarkable.

But she didn't just build a business; she created a bridge. A place where Kiwis could experience authentic Thai healing, where the ancient art of "Nuat Thai" could find a new home thousands of miles from its birthplace. Over the years, she's welcomed countless people through her doors, building a team of skilled therapists and creating a space where each guest leaves a little lighter, a little more balanced than when they arrived.

Watching her lead, I've always been struck by her dedication and grace. She doesn't just run a massage business; she shares a piece of her heritage with every person who walks through the door.

Dad's Hands Tell Stories Too

While Mum was building her massage practice, my father was creating his own kind of magic. He's a master craftsman, trained in traditional Thai woodwork that's been passed down through generations in our family's village in Northern Thailand.

His hands don't just shape wood; they preserve history. Over the years, he's handcrafted "salas" (traditional Thai pavilions) for Thai and Lao temples across New Zealand, including work for the Thai Embassy in Wellington. Each piece he creates is storytelling through timber, keeping alive cultural traditions that are rare to find so far from home.

When I watch him work, measuring each cut with the precision passed down from his father, I see the same dedication that drives my mother's healing touch. Both of them understand that true craftsmanship comes from the heart.

The Birth of Nongview Spa

That's where our idea was born, in watching two people pour their souls into preserving Thai culture in New Zealand, each in their own beautiful way.

We wanted to create a space that brought both their passions together. A place where people could feel the warmth of genuine Thai hospitality, experience real massage therapy, and be surrounded by design that transports you straight to Thailand.

What's in a Name?

Here's something that makes us smile: the name "Nongview" has a story too.

In Thai, "Nong" is a term of endearment we use for someone younger it's friendly, caring, something you'd say to a little sibling or someone you want to look after. "View" is my nickname, so "Nongview" translates to something like "Little View."

It's a name that captures everything we want to be: family oriented, youthful in spirit, and dedicated to taking care of everyone who walks through our doors.

Built With Love, Not Flash

Everything you see at Nongview Spa from the massage oils we use to the hand-carved wooden details is chosen with intention and created with love. We're not trying to be the flashiest spa in town or compete with corporate wellness chains.

We just want to bring a little piece of Thailand to people here, through honest service, thoughtful design, and the kind of massage skills that have been refined over generations.

When you sink into one of our treatment rooms, surrounded by Dad's woodwork and experiencing Mum's healing techniques, you're not just getting a massage. You're becoming part of our family story one that bridges two worlds and celebrates the beautiful ways culture travels and takes root in new soil.

This Is Just the Beginning

We're still growing, still learning, still perfecting our craft. But what won't change is our commitment to treating every guest like family, to honoring the traditions that shaped us, and to creating a space where authentic Thai healing can flourish.

This is our invitation to you: Come by, relax, and discover what real Thai care feels like. Let us share a piece of our heritage with you.

Because at Nongview Spa, you're not just a client you're "nong" to us, someone we want to care for and look after.
